iPhone owners, rejoice! Now you finally have the chance to unleash your inner DJ with a wicked simple app called Baby Scratch, a mini turntable with impressive responsiveness and level of detail. Available for free from the iTunes App Store, this finger-sized, scratch table comes with three background loops, seekable scratch track with 24 sound effects and volume fader, as well as the ability to record your own voice samples onto the track. Baby Scratch is one of the most entertaining iPhone apps yet. Developer Async has already turned the volume up, releasing “the world’s most compact professional DJ turntable” with Flare, also available at the App Store for under ten bucks. This pro level version allows you to upload your own custom scratch tracks to the table and incorporates a useful zoom option for more precise movement.

I’ve always admired the turntablist, scratch technician, or DJ or whatever they are dubbed these days, and now I can step into those shoes and be a star whenever I reach in my pocket. I can only imagine what a dual iPad setup would bring to the table. Who knows, the next hit DJ could be the computer nerd from East Tennessee!
